Cherokee County - Where Metro meets the Mountains!

In less than an hour, you can be at an Atlanta Braves game or at the symphony. Cherokee County Georgia is approximately 25 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

As growth of the Atlanta Metro area spills over into this northern county, Cherokee is determined to remain an enjoyable community for people to live. Professional developers are planning for quality growth while still protecting the areas natural resources, scenic views and comfortable residential living.

In 2003 the population of Cherokee County was approximately 159,295. Since 1980, the population has more than tripled in size. Woodstock, GA, located in the southern section of the county and Canton, GA, a little further north, are the two largest cities in Cherokee County.

One board of education serves the county's 34 public schools. Current enrollment is over 28,000. We're proud of our school system, which exceeds both national and state test score averages.

Cherokee County offers a little something for everyone!
